Abstract

Electronic Health Records (EHR) play a vital role in improving healthcare delivery by enhancing data accuracy, accessibility, and coordination among healthcare providers. This study examines the impact of EHR on healthcare delivery efficiency in Nigeria, focusing on how digital health systems influence patient care and hospital administration. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected from healthcare professionals in selected hospitals through questionnaires and interviews, and analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings show that EHR implementation significantly reduces patient waiting time, minimizes medical errors, and improves record management and communication between departments. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited technical expertise, and high implementation costs hinder full adoption in many healthcare facilities. The study concludes that wider use of EHR can strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system if supported by government investment, staff training, and effective digital health policies.
