Abstract

With the deepening application of technologies such as big data mining and natural language processing, emotional elements within public discourse are increasingly being extracted and visualized, leading to the emergence and increasing salience of the concept of “emotional resonance.” This paper focuses on the phenomenon of online emotional resonance during public emergencies. After thoroughly clarifying its connotation, it delves into its prominent characteristics, including suddenness and rapidity, autonomy and creativity, collectivity and interactivity, periodicity and transformability, homogeneity and polarization. Building on this foundation, the paper systematically explores feasible pathways for online emotional guidance during public emergencies, empowered by new technologies. This approach targets effective emotional communication and social governance, examining dimensions such as media, enterprises, experts, and think tanks.
