IMPACT OF ROLE SPILLOVER ON EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION IN SELECTED PUBLIC TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN DELTA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

The focus of this research is to unveil the dynamic relationship between role spillover and job satisfaction of workers in chosen public higher educational institutions in Delta State, Nigeria. The study was survey and questionnaire was administered to 380 respondents out of a population of 7, 416 workers which was determined through Taro Yamane formula. This was followed by data analyses using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools. The findings showed that work-family enrichment (𝛽=0.930,𝑡=13.549,𝑃=0.000) and work-family balance (𝛽=0.196,𝑡=4.593,𝑃=0.000) positively and significantly enhance employee job satisfaction, while work-family conflict (𝛽=−181,𝑡=−3.349,𝑃=0.001) negatively and significantly influences job satisfaction in the affected establishments. It was concluded that job facilitation will enhance work- family balance and reduce work-family conflict thereby improving job satisfaction among staff.
