Abstract

February 2025 saw the introduction of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) - the next-generation SaaS offering coming out of SAP, which integrates the SAP BW modernization, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) in a single offering. The new offering supports business data fabric architecture. Through alignment of SAP and non-SAP data, using BW Private Cloud Editions, Datasphere for semantic modelling and data governance, and SAC to achieve advanced analytics and planning, BDC provides efficient data integration, faster delivery of insights, and the possibility of AI-powered insight applications like Joule and partner-led intelligent business applications. This paper looks at the innovation possibilities, strategic value of BDC, and modernization pathways available to customers using SAP BW, managed data governance and artifacts in Datasphere, and expanded insights on analytics and planning in SAC. Its usage is contextualized through its cost effectiveness, the ability to scale up, artificial intelligence interface, and the organisational impact whereby BDC can be seen as a value-added enabler of enterprise-wide, data-driven decision making.
