Abstract

Disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) is characterized as a comprehensive strategy for identifying, evaluating, and analyzing hazards linked to disasters to lessen their potential threats. In the Philippines, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM) is responsible for implementing the Republic Act 10121, known as Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. This is in lieu of the vulnerability to multiple volcanic potential threats, typhoons, and other natural disasters from the location of the Philippines in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Therefore, this study is conducted through survey questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of implementing the law in the Technical and Administrative Services Brigade disaster preparedness. Gathered data from 100 respondents showed favorable responses to the organizational structure of AFPRESCOM. This indicated that the organization is prepared regarding its program and staffing structures, training, equipment, and funding. However, funding support is rated lower than other factors that may imply inadequate technical support, which may cause delay for AFPRESCOM in providing response services to disastrous occurrences.
