Abstract

Political literacy in Indonesia is now growing, which is indicated by the existence of a “political literacy movement” both from the government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) both before the general election and after the activity. The set of abilities, sk elopment of political literacy towards the consolidation of democracy in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to answer whether the mastery of political literacy and political maturity can be increased decision to use the political rights of voters. This study used is quantitative with a normative approach involving a sample of 185 voters registering in the final voter list for the general election in Kediri Regency in 2019. Data were collected using a questionnaire and was analyzed using the SPSS application. Political literacy has a positive impact on decisions to use political rights. Political maturity also has a positive impact on decisions on the use of political rights. Mastery of political literacy and political maturity simultaneously significantly influence the decision to use political rights. These findings indicate that political literacy and political maturity can be factors in increasing political participation in Indonesia.
