Abstract

The relevance of quality instruction in higher education institutions could be realized through effective preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Hence, this study highlighted the planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructions during this time of the pandemic. The study was designed to determine and assess the relative effects of COVID-19 on the performance of three higher education institutions in the MIMAROPA Region. The study answered the following research questions as follows: What describes the respondents in terms of gender, years in service, rank, and status of employment, nature of assignment, educational qualifications, number of researches conducted and published, and number of awards in community extension engagement? What practices do universities in MIMAROPA employ to sustain instruction in the new normal in terms of analysis of instruction; design of instruction; preparation of instruction; implementation of instruction; and evaluation of instruction as perceived by the faculty members? Is there a significant difference in the practices of SUCs in MIMAROPA employ in the new normal in terms of analysis of instruction; design of instruction; preparation of instruction; implementation of instruction; and evaluation of instruction? The study used a quantitative method design and employed the purposive sampling technique to select participants from the faculty of WPU in Palawan, Mindoro State University in Mindoro, and Marinduque State College in Marinduque. The questionnaire was used as a research tool. It was found that the majority of the instructors were female, married, with master's degree holders, and had permanent status as instructors with three to five years of service. These instructors were designated as chairs of programs with none-to-one completed research projects and community extension engagement. In addition, the instructors from different SUCs of MIMAROPA frequently practiced the new normal practices to sustain education based on the five stages: analysis of instruction, design of instruction, preparation of instruction, implementation of instruction, and evaluation of instruction. Each school has different consideration and focus on the impacts of the new normal on the learning of the students.
