Abstract

Moonlighting refers to an employee working with two different companies at the same time. Such a situation arises due to several reasons like dissatisfaction from present wages or a need to earn more to complement the current income. Covid-19 pandemic had a severe impact on the economy, employment opportunities, as well as employees’ salaries. Also, with the increased practice of work-from-home gave rise to the opportunities of multiple employment to professionals. While such opportunities continued even after pandemic, they created challenges to the HR Managers to ensure commitment of employees to their organizations. The current study aims to look at the extent and impact of moonlighting on employees as well as employers from Pune Industrial area. The results show significant level of moonlighting among professionals and its mixed acceptance by employers.
