Abstract

Nanotechnology is a new technology in drug discovery, having the ability to hit targets at infected pathology sites due to its size small. On this basis, scientists have developed many types of nanoparticles in the development of herbal medicines. Natural product compounds are bioactive and are being developed for various purposes, both in the form of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical preparations. However, its application requires special formulations because natural compounds generally have problems related to low solubility, permeability, stability, and bioavailability. This study aims to determine the particle size of moringa leaf extract and ant nest extract in the Moricecare® formula which functions to increase body immunity. There are 4 kinds of solvents used, namely water, ethanol, gum, and fermented persimmon fruit. The method used in this study is the self-assembly method using a Particle Size Analyzer by measuring the distribution of particle sizes in arithmetic, graphical and statistical sequences. The results showed that the cumulant result in Z-Avg ethanol solvent was 271.7 nm, water solvent was 602.7 nm, gum solvent was 666.2 nm and persimmon fruit fermentation solvent was 929.5 nm. From the results of this study, the most effective solvent for producing nanotechnology herbs is ethanol. Moringa leaf extract and ant nest extract with nanoparticle size increase the effectiveness of increasing the body's immunity.
