Abstract

Drug abuse is a growing concern, affecting people of all ages including minors. The Narcotics Investigation Agency of the West Jakarta Metro Police is tasked with cracking down on drug abuse to save the next generation from this issue. This study aims to analyze the law enforcement efforts of the Narcotics Investigation Unit by identifying the forms of law enforcement employed and the obstacles encountered. The research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods of analysis and data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and studies. The stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions are used in conducting data analysis. The research shows that law enforcement efforts carried out by the Narcotics Investigation Unit involve inquiries and investigation activities, using penal (repressive) channels to combat drug abuse. However, there are obstacles that affect the performance of the Narcotics Investigation Unit in the disclosure of cases, such as inadequate equipment possession, a small number of personnel, an ever-changing modus operandi in crime, and a lack of community participation in providing information.
