SKILL BASED DIGITALIZATION OF INDONESIAN TEXTBOOK THINKING HIGH LEVELS (HOTS)

Abstract

Indonesian language textbooks are mandatory books in educational institutions in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the characteristics of textbooks, describe the characteristics of Indonesian textbooks that suit the needs of teachers and students, develop Indonesian textbooks based on high-level thinking skills and test the effectiveness of HOTS-based Indonesian textbooks for language skills in junior high schools (SMP). SMP the research subjects were carried out in 16 SMP and Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) schools in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Digitization is a process of change that occurs in analog (face-to-face) learning technology to digital (online) technology, especially in the use of textbooks. This research method is development through the preliminary stage using explanatory descriptive. And the development stage is carried out with Focus Group Discussions (FGD), expert assessment, limited trials and wider trials. The prototype is determined to be a textbook that has been declared feasible and acceptable. The prototype testing stage uses experiments. The research results obtained: The book used has not been able to get students to think critically, creatively, communicatively, solve problems Book criteria when viewed from the theory of higher order thinking skills which consist of analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) components are still not based on skills theory think at a high level And the results of the analysis of the needs of teachers and students can be concluded: Indonesian language textbooks are very important to support teacher and student learning, Indonesian language textbooks contribute to student learning, the main teaching material used is books, so books are very necessary by students and teachers and HOTS-based Indonesian textbooks needs to be given to students to stimulate students' thinking levels so that students can be more creative, critical, communicative and problem solving. The implication is textbook prototypes based on FGD results of expert assessment, results of development and improvement based on limited trials and wider trials, results of prototype development and improvements based on effectiveness tests, determination of HOTS skills-based Indonesian textbooks.
