Abstract

In today’s information age, innovation has become the first power of social development, which is regarded as

the basis of the overall competitiveness of a country or a region. As teachers play the key role in educational

reform and development, teacher innovation capability is highly demanded. The aim of this research was to

explore current situation and the relationship of transformational leadership (TL), corporate social responsibility

(CSR), work engagement (WE) and teacher innovation capability (TIC) in colleges of Hainan so as to creat a new

model for improving teacher innovation capability. A quantitative research methodology was used in this study

and the structural equation modeling technique was employed to analyze the data from 300 college teachers in

Hainan. The findings indicated that transformational leadership and corporate social responsibility have a positive

impact on teacher innovation capability both directly and indirectly through the mediating role of work

engagement. The results of this study are of great significance to the research theories and practices on teacher

management and development programs in higher education, as well as the local educational improvement and
