Abstract

Purpose: This paper analyses literature on workplace spirituality and employee performance. The aim of the paper is to determine the impact of workplace spirituality over employee performance and their wellbeing while working from home or during remote working. This paper explores literature on how employee performance can be promoted through workplace spirituality. Design/methodology/approach – The paper outlines the research on work from home, workplace spirituality and its impact on performance of employees. This paper reviews literature on spirituality at work and explores how workplace spirituality improves employee performance as well as organizational performance. The paper highlights the findings on how spirituality leads to increased employee performance and wellbeing. This research paper is purely theoretical and descriptive in nature. The data collection is done through secondary sources such as research papers and scholarly articles as per the requirement of the study. Findings: This research paper provides us an overview on how workplace Spirituality if incorporated properly can prove to be an effective instrument to improve the employee performance. The paper introduces potential benefits and caveats of incorporating spirituality into the workplace; providing recommendations and suggestions for practitioners to incorporate spirituality positively in organizations to increase employee performance. The paper suggests that workplace spirituality can facilitate employee performance, and thus boost organizational performance in case of work from home or remote working. This study gives a call out to researchers to explore the connect between workplace spirituality, employee performance and and work from home interface/ hybrid working, as this area has received a very limited attention.
